The building, which was especially
designed to be a museum
by architect J.V. Strömberg, was completed in 1907.
Two
excellent museums, the Kuopio Cultural History Museum and the Kuopio
Natural History Museum in an 100-year-old
building. Basic exhibitions concerning natural history rich in
experiences and an impressive reconstruction of a mammoth. Cultural
historical basic exhibitions depict the prehistory and colonization
of the region North Savo, local livelihoods and ways of life. There
are also changing exhibitions and a versatile museum shop.
